Suncorp Stadium – for those of you who don’t know – is a stadium in south-east Queensland that seats approximately 52,500 people. Throughout the year it hosts a multitude of things which includes Rugby League, Rugby Union, soccer and concerts. Rugby League usually consists of Brisbane Broncos home games, annual State of Origin matches, International Test Matches and the Queensland Rugby League’s Intrust Super Cup Grand Final. As for the Rugby Union side of things, Queensland Reds home games are held at this venue in the Super 15 Rugby competition as well as International Tests involving the Wallabies.
Suncorp Stadium’s involvement with soccer is through Brisbane Roar in the A-League and some international matches which can sometimes include World Cup qualifying games featuring the Socceroos.
Some concerts in the past have featured Coldplay, U2, Robbie Williams, The Police, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran and Eminem.
Upcoming events at the venue for winter include a plethora of A-League matches featuring the Brisbane Roar from October as well as performances from Paul McCartney and Ed Sheeran.
Accessibility is extremely easy with the venue being within walking distance of the Brisbane CBD and a multitude of buses and trains that stop within walking distance of the entrance. Although there is no public parking at the venue, paid parking areas are available within a 10 minute walking distance.
